I then stumbled on <a href="http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010setup/thread/b95d180a-4dac-4a41-8b73-7a7b9d0f6e7f/" target="_blank">this</a> forum post which perfectly described my situation. </p>
